Sunline Speedway concluded its 2018/19 season on Sunday with their traditional day meeting.
The Steve Butcher Memorial for Street Stocks is always a highlight on the Speedway calendar, and this was again reflected by the high car count nominated as well as the racing displayed during the meeting. The 3 heat race wins were shared by Neville Nitschke, Steve Heinrich and Phil Watson. This Sunday, Sunline Speedway plays host to its final meeting for season 2018/19 with the traditional day meeting boasting a large program of events.

Warm and overcast conditions greeted race fans Saturday night as Sunline Speedway held their final meeting under lights for the 2018/19 season. All competitors should be proud of their driving on the night with minimal incidents occurring and the program completed shortly after 9pm.

Saturday the 18th May sees Sunline Speedway plays host to its final night meeting, with the final meeting for season 2019/20 being the traditional day meeting on the June Long Weekend.
3 classes with contest the final round of their respective series; Super Sedans with their Country Series, Formula 500’s with their State Series and Junior Sedans for the Robert Gwynne Memorial. Also on the program are Modiltes, Street Stocks, Modified Sedans and Classic Rods.

Saturday night saw Sunline Speedway play host to its third meeting of the 2019/20 season with 6 classes on the program
Junior Sedans contested Round 3 of their Track Championship as well as Round 1 of the Robert Gwynne Memorial. Drew Flatman won 2 of the 3 heat races whilst Sharni Pitcher won the remaining heat race, setting the front row for the Feature. Flatman would go on to win the 15 lap Feature ahead of Chelsea Gwynne and Callum Crossing.

Saturday 30th March sees Sunline Speedway play host to its 3rd meeting of the season with 6 classes on the program.

Whilst we are only 2 meetings in to season 2018/19, planning is in full swing for the 2019/20 season.

On a perfect summer’s night, Sunline Speedway treated fans to a great night of racing when it hosted its 2nd meeting of the 2018/19 season on Saturday night.

After a hugely successful Opening Night, Sunline Speedway welcomes race fans back to the Venue for meeting #2 for the 2018/19 season on Saturday 16th February. The Australian Sprintcar All Stars back for Round 9 of their series with Dan Evans going in as the man to beat after claiming the win in the State Title which was held at the previous meeting.

Sunline Speedway played host to 2 South Australian Titles on Saturday night, with the Junior Sedans and 360 Sprintcars chasing that elusive SA #1. A large crowd was on hand to witness some great racing despite a small rain delay soon after commencing racing for the evening.

Sunline Speedway will kick of the 2018/19 season with a huge night of racing with 2 South Australian Titles up for grabs with Junior Sedans and the 360 Sprintcars chasing that elusive SA #1.

The 2017/18 speedway season concluded at the Sunline Speedway with the traditional day meeting finishing under lights. There was a almost 2 hour delay at the start of the Feature races when Junior Sedan driver Drew Flatman made heavy impact with the pit gate, the force breaking the hinges and requiring it to be welded shut for the remainder of the meeting. Testament to the strength of modern race cars, Flatman was checked over by medical staff and given the all clear.

It’s set to be a big send off to the 2017/18 season at the Sunline Speedway on Sunday 10th June with 6 classes and over 60 drivers currently nominated.
Street Stocks have the biggest field with drivers aiming to add their name to the Steve Butcher Memorial honour roll. What a cracker of a finale we have created with the Tough-As Products Grand Championship of Sunline Speedway for 2017/18.
If all these drivers enter at the final meeting, we will have the following scenario with points, calculated after entry points have already been distributed. If some drivers don't enter this will obviously alter the number of potential drivers still in the hunt:

It was a record breaking night at Sunline Speedway on Saturday Night, with a fast track producing 18 records that were either set or broken (some several times) during the meeting.
Junior Sedans competed for points towards their Track Championship as well as the Robert Gwynne Memorial with 11 drivers competing over 3 heats of 8 laps and a 15 lap feature. Despite the windy conditions, some great racing was seen at Sunline Speedway on Saturday night. Due to some other venues being cancelled due to rain, some extra drivers joined in, bolstering fields in several classes.

On Saturday 14th April, Sunline Speedway plays hosts to the South Australian Modified Sedan Title, with local drivers having to battle against drivers entered from Victoria and Western Australia to claim the SA #1.
Whilst the focus will be on the Title, the support classes are just as exciting. Junior Sedans will be contesting Round 3 of their Track Championship as well as Round 1 of the Robert Gwynne Memorial, with Street Stocks and Modlites rounding out a great program.Read Full Post »
